COMMEMORATION at THE PLAN DE DIEU, APRIL 18, 2026

Commemoration of the 82nd anniversary of the American pilots who died at Plan de Dieu was presided over by Mr. Philippe de Beauregard, Mayor of Camaret-sur-Aygues. Also present were the Consul General of the United States of America, the President of the Community of Municipalities, Mayor of Sérignan, the Mayors of Violés, Travaillan, and Rasteau, elected officials, the Presidents and members of patriotic associations. Besides local citizens, there were young people in uniform representing the EAJ (Air Youth Squadron) of Air Base 115 in Orange.

A testimonial prepared by Anthony Asterita, Commander of the 49th Fighter Squadron Association was read by Mr. Nicolas Courtune, an Association member. Ms. Jessica Huaracayo, Consul General of the United States of America also delivered a speech as did the Mayor of Camaret-sur-Aygues

Our 49th Fighter Squadron Association provided a wreath which was placed by Général Bernard Metz, French Air Force, Colonel Mastny (ret),  US Air Force, and Mr. Courtine, member, 49th Fighter Squadron Association. 

After the wreath laying, there was 15 seconds of honorable silence followed by the playing of the American and French national anthems.

A reception to include wonderful French wines and hors d’ oeurves was hosted by the municipality was held in the council chamber at Camaret-sur-AyguesTown Hall hosted by the Mayor of Camaret-sur-Aygues and his Municipal Council, along with the mayors of neighboring towns.
