The legacy of the 49th advances forward with the ceremonies in France in April 2024. Words are inadequate to describe the spirit of the French people in honoring our fallen pilots who paid the ultimate sacrifice or were taken prisoner 80 years ago.  The dedication and heartfelt emotions expressed by the French people leaves us with a deeper appreciation of our mutual friendship with them.  This year we were joined by three pilots of the 49th Fighter Training Squadron including the Commander. Besides honoring the P-38 pilots, these ceremonies also raise our awareness of memories of all 49th members who have passed on.
